住在曼穀唐人街，父母早年失蹤的阿探（郭富城飾），自幼渴望和好友風澤（廖啟智飾）一起投身警界，卻因高度近視未能如願，不甘心之下，他當起了私家偵探，卻隻能接一些雞鳴狗盜的小案子，賺錢不多、口碑奇差，還時常入不敷出，要靠風澤接濟。一天，阿探的朋友肥龍（成奎安飾）委托他調查一個女人，聲稱自己正在被她追殺。好奇之下，阿探根據照片查出這個女子叫莫慧心，卻在尋找相關知情人士時接連出現怪異事件：跟莫慧心有關的人相繼死亡，而阿探總是第一個發現者，簡直成了死神的化身。為此風澤百般奉勸阿探放棄追查，甚至不惜以兩人多年友誼要挾，阿探卻執意堅持。隨著調查的進展，驚人的真相開始漸漸浮出水麵……
